How would it feel to wear mining hats; enter the mine and have a full-course meal sitting there? Wondering if we are joking? No way. So this year during our Durga puja break we visited the Kouzina Mining company at Salt Lake; Kolkata for our most awaited Saptami dinner with friends.

We heard a lot about this theme-based restaurant which recently also became the talk of the town owing to its unique theme and good quality food. So, this time we thought let’s give it a shot.

Upon the usual Durga puja waiting, we finally managed to book our space within this coalfield. While entering the restaurant, you can feel the clings and clangs of coal mining. The tables and seating Chairs are also designed in line with the theme. The exhaustive dark shades at different parts of the restaurant would circumscribe the spirit of a coal mine.

Let’s now talk about the food. Lip-smacking is a tiny word to describe their gastronomic surprises. In other words, their multi-cuisine menu would perfectly make your tummy and brain urge for more. Kouzina mining has options across the different genres; starting from oriental main courses to Bengali delicacies: they have it all.

We tried their Jhinga Malwani (Clay oven smoked prawns) and Murgh angara kabab (form of tandoori kabab) as starters. The prawns were mouth-watering and a few pieces are not going to lessen your cravings for having more of it.

Following the starters, we had some Chinese options in the main course. Though they Chinese, but probably the dishes we chose were not their best offerings.

Overall, Kouzina mining has it all. Incredible ambiance, red hot spicy starters, scrumptious main course. What more do you want for a quick and refreshing weekend gastronomic tour?  We would like to visit again and this time we plan to try out something else in their main course rather than Chinese.
